Thursday, September 2, 2021, 7:30-9pm at private home in Encino. SMPLA Parent Orientation for new Families and those interested in joining! SMPLA Co-Directors and teachers will host an in-person orientation to provide free information about our program. If you know families with children playing violin or guitar in the Suzuki method, these parents are welcome. Also if you are a parent "shopping around" for where to begin with music lessons, this will be an informative way to start your search. Bring your questions, and we'll describe how SMPLA works with all children for a well rounded music education. If you have not yet been vaccinated against Covid-19, we will provide the option to participate over Zoom. We ask for you to be vaccinated to attend this Parent Orientation in person, as the homeowners are elderly.
Please RSVP to Robin Johnson rllj@yahoo.com to reserve your spot and receive the Zoom invitation. Feel free to bring your spouse or a friend (children are hopefully already in bed ;-)

Feel free to bring your spouse or a friend (children are hopefully already in bed ;-) SMPLA has decided to cancel our annual Bach in the Park event this year on March 22, in favor of staying isolated. Hopefully, staying home will help “flatten the curve” and we can all stay out of the path of the Corona Virus.
Please take this time to enjoy practicing at home, and make small and great advances in your Suzuki repertoire! Consider staging a concert for your family members at home playing through the repertoire you already know! What a great way to review. Wishing everyone a healthy and restful couple of weeks. A child's musical education through SMPLA is founded on the "Suzuki Triangle" - musical participation involving the Child, Parent, and Teacher. While the teacher works with the child once a week in a private lesson, the parent works with the child on a daily basis, helping the child master what was taught by the teacher. Therefore, parental involvement is central and crucial to a Suzuki student's musical training. A parent does not need to be a trained musician in order to become an effective "home teacher."
